The Park Authority's P.L.A.Y. Foundation
P.L.A.Y. (Parks and Leisure for Adults and Youth) Foundation scholarships have provided summer camps and classes to area youth as well as recreational opportunities for families,

The Park Authority works with County social service agencies to identify those citizens in need of assistance. The Park Authority processes eligible requests for scholarships and places family members in the programs of their choice.

What Is The P.L.A.Y. Foundation?
The Park Authority aims to provide all citizens with equal access to County Parks, Recreation and Leisure services.

In an ongoing effort to meet this challenge, in 1982, the Park Authority established the non-profit P.L.A.Y. Foundation to enable financially disadvantaged children to attend summer camp.  Since its inception, the P.L.A.Y. Foundation has grown in response to the community's needs, to include the entire family.

Through this dynamic program, children may attend summer camp, youth enjoy Karate classes, and family members of all ages benefit from swimming and boating, all free of charge.

Funding for the P.L.A.Y. Foundation scholarships are raised by traditional means.  Individuals, organizations, and local business provide much needed financial support.  It is only through their generosity that we can continue to serve our neighbors in need.

How Is This Done?

  1. Selected Social Service Agencies throughout Prince William County receive scholarship requests and determine financial eligibility based on current HUD guidelines.
  2. The Park Authority processes the eligible requests and places family members in the programs of their choice.
  3. The P.L.A.Y. Foundation pays all program and registration fees for the children and their families.

The Foundation will accept whatever financial generosity can be provided as well.
