The Park Authority will hold the first in a series of community meetings on the redesigning of the Skate Park at Veterans Memorial Park in Woodbridge. The initial meeting will be November 12th from 7pm to 9pm at Veterans Park Community Center.
The meeting will give local skateboard enthusiasts the chance to contribute to park’s expansion and learn about the newest concepts in skatepark safety and design. American Ramp Company, the renowned skate park design firm, will be partnering with the Park Authority on the project. Sample plans will be presented as a ‘jumping off’ spot for discuss and community feedback. ARC and the Park Authority will use the input from the meeting in developing the initial plan for the skatepark.
Veterans Skate Park is the only designated skateboard facility in Prince William County. The park has 7,200 square feet of bumps, moguls, a half-pipe which is 12' X 50' and l800 square feet of smooth surfaces with sidewalk and street features. It is a source of enjoyment and challenge for numerous skate board enthusiasts throughout the county.
A second meeting will be held in mid-December, at which time, ARC will present their proposed plan for the park. We hope you will join us in designing this exciting project!
