Here is a sampling of programs available to you: Arts-n-Crafts: We have classes for children ages 2-6 that allow children the opportunity to explore various art mediums and develop their own sense of style. Classes for children under 3 require parent participation.
Cooking: We love to have kids in our kitchen! Your child will enjoy mixing and pouring and stirring…but the best thing of all is TASTING their creation.
Science: Watch your child’s eye light up as they discover how and why things happen! These classes are taught using a hands-on format with age-appropriate materials.
Playschool
The Sharron Baucom - Dale City Recreation Center (or SBDCRC for short) offers State licensed pre-school classes for children beginning at age 24 months. Our classes for 2 year olds are developmentally based and encourage the children’s independent development of social and fine and gross motor skills. Our 3 and 4 classes teach kindergarten-readiness objectives based on the VA Dept of Education’s Foundations for Education. Our classes offer the children the opportunity to develop their skills in a constructive learning environment. Our Fall 2008 registration for new customers will begin April 14th. Nursery
The SBDCRC offers a State licensed nursery for use by parents while they enjoy our facility. Our nursery has 2 rooms: one for infants, one for older toddlers, and one for older children. Our staff is CPR and First Aid certified.
Martial Arts – Whether you are interested in physical or mental conditioning our menu of martial arts classes has something to offer you. Choose from: Aikido, Judo, Kendo, Self Defense and Soo Bahk Do
Special Interests – These unique classes give you the opportunity to explore something different. Currently offering Drama, Home Décor and Sewing
After School Enrichment classes – Our late afternoon classes provide a great recreational outlet for kids. Choose from, Karate, Dance, Art and Fitness
Children and Adult Dance – All levels of dancers feel comfortable in our dance program. Come check out our ballroom, Jazz, Ballet and Celtic dance classes
Children’s Sport leagues/class – our Soccer Strides, Li'l Hitters and Shooters program has been a cornerstone in our community. Non competitive leagues and instructional classes introduce kids to the world of sports.
Adult Sport Leagues – Don’t let the kids have all the fun. Find out about our kickball, volleyball and co-ed basketball leagues.
Triple Threat League – this new league designed for ages 10-12 offers full court, competitive games. Games are played at Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center and Chinn Center.
Homeschool Programs – We look forward to building our homeschool offerings. Currently we have theater, fencing and gymnastics programs
Camps – with over 27 years of experience , our camp programs are well established and well respected. We offer full day camp, gymnastics camp, specialized mini camps, sport camps, outdoor adventure camp as well as camps for the preschoolers. Our camps provide something for everyone!
